COACHING IN NATURE

Dérive is French for "to drift" and it the basis for taking your coaching journey outside to allow your mind to be free in nature.  “Flaneurs”- "flânerie" – is the act of strolling or passionate wandering, walking  in nature connecting with, and using the world around you, with a sense of curiosity, awe and wonder, to clear your mind and find clarity, filling up your senses, describing what you see, hear, feel, touch, smell, and linking these to your life and goals. It can help connect your mind, body, spirit with real rewards, feeling the abundance of nature

"There is nothing more constant than change"

In nature we see constant change, not least in the changing of the seasons and each one brings with it, it's own unique type of beauty, marvel and wonder. We as human beings, having our own unique individual human experience,  are also constantly changing, with positive and negative parts. The secret is to build mental fitness and positive intelligence around adaptability and resilience to changes, those which are within our control and outside our control. We can use our senses and nature to assist with this process.

Using Your Senses in Nature

Dr Qing Li, author of Shinrin Yoku: The Art and Science of Forest Bathing remind us how, “Indoors, we tend to use only two senses, our eyes and our ears.” But outdoors, “Outside is when we can smell the flowers, taste the fresh air, look at the changing colours of the trees, hear the birds singing and feel the breeze on our skin.”
